Every Piece Has a Story

At Rugged Arbor, we build custom rustic and industrial-style furniture that celebrates the character of each piece of wood—whether it’s reclaimed from barns, salvaged from torn-down structures, or sourced new for modern tastes. We believe every slab of wood has its own story: knots, nail holes, and natural wear offer glimpses into its past life. By using both reclaimed and new lumber, we create furniture that merges the old and the new, while highlighting the inherent beauty in every board.

Our Process

Design & Collaboration

Although I’m just getting started with taking on client projects, my vision is to collaborate closely with each customer—whether it’s via an online order form or a face-to-face meeting. From the initial sketches to selecting the perfect finish, I aim to provide a personalized experience tailored to your unique style.

Craftsmanship & Refinement

Every piece I build is approached with both creative enthusiasm and a dedication to refining my skills. Each project becomes a chance to learn, adapt, and push for higher quality—ensuring that, whether you’re commissioning a small decorative accent or an entire dining set, you’ll receive a piece that’s thoughtfully and carefully crafted.

About Rugged Arbor

Rugged Arbor began with a simple 2x4 sofa project. After nearly 15 years away from woodworking since high school shop class, I picked up a few old tools and some spare materials to build a seat for my basement. What started as a spontaneous project reignited a passion for craftsmanship—and it quickly grew into a vision for an entire woodworking venture.

Location & Availability

Working out of my residence in Overland Park, Kansas, I currently don’t have a public showroom. However, I’m happy to schedule appointments by request to discuss design ideas, share material samples, and let you see works in progress.

Vision

While I’m still shaping Rugged Arbor’s formal mission statement, I’m driven by a passion for crafting functional pieces that carry meaning, stand the test of time, and bring a sense of warmth into any space. Looking ahead, my goal is to grow into a full-time operation that consistently blends creativity with authenticity—always remembering that every board and every project tells a story.
